About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Really happy for Norstrom. Not a Dallas fan but you can sure as hell bet I'll be rooting for them over the Red Wings!
I hear ya. I don't know Marleau well enough, but Thornton just doesn't have the right personality for playoff hockey.
It's funny you say that.
Thornton gave an interview before the game tonight and I swear it was like listening to a happy-go-lucky guy that was at his parents 25th wedding anniversary saying nice things to mom and dad as someone passed around the home video camera.
I wanted to shake him and say "for god sakes man... this is the ****ing playoffs and you're just smiling and carrying on like it's a pick-up game with some buddies." You're right... it's something strange with his personality - it's just so evident that he's not in the right frame of mind for playoff hockey.

He hasn't choked but I'm still not sold on him as an elite goaltender.
He had a 1.30 GAA and a .952 save percentage last season when they were bounced and you're still not sold.
Stick to the Ducks... it's what you know.

dallas is up 3-0, Detroit up 3-0, Pitt up 3-0. is this what the NHL had in mind for parity?
Maybe not, but a well-run organization will always be in the running, salary cap or not. Detroit, Dallas, and Philly are pulling it off with a combo of homegrowns and a couple choice FA pickups. Montreal and Pittsburgh are riding their own draft picks.
Just hope that one day I can point to the Kings as an example of how to execute a successful hockey formula, but history isn't exactly on their side.

While the series' may seem a little lopsided, a lot of the individual games have been very close. I've watched a lot of one goal games these playoffs, and that to me speaks of parity.

Wow, man. Can I have some of what you're smoking?
BTW, I'd take Turco over Labs, Ersberg, and heck, even Giguere and Hiller combined. In a league with a lot of quasi-#1's, Turco is definitely one of the elite.

Dude faces like 20 shots a game. Part of that is because kills the forecheck by playing the puck but to me an elite goaltender is a guy that can stop shots. I'd like to see just how good he would be if he did see 30 shots a game and sometimes 40. I can't even remember when the last time he faced a high shot total was.

First of all, I wouldn't classify him as "elite" yet, but he is very very good. That said, him killing the forecheck is PART of his goalie skill.
