Bitchin.
Even when the Sharks do things right, they still choke. I don't get it. They can't even combine good performances from the skaters and Nabokov to get at least a win. Don Dumbassenhoven's quick whistle didn't really help, either.
Congrats to Matty for scoring the GW in overtime and the Stars would also like to thank the WHIMPY MINNOWS for just showing up to get their paycheck. If the Stars score first in game 4, then the series is over with a Dallas sweep. And as some have mentioned,Ron Wilson will most likely be canned along with the other (GM) Wilson.

Nabokov's been the least of their problems. He's been terrific.
They've fallen asleep during both series for vast stretches of time and that's completely unacceptable. I think the pressure of major changes if they don't win impacts the team more than people let on, and I still believe that Marleau checked out a year ago after Wilson threw him under the bus last season during the playoffs.
At least they consistently make the playoffs, which is more than I can say for the Kings, but SJ has some glaring issues on that team right now and an overhaul is in order to get through that glass ceiling.

Anyone think they'll still can Wilson and/or trade Marleau if they don't make it out of round 2?
Thoughts?

I think they'd be trading the wrong center.
OK, that might be pushing it.
By the way, would take Marleau at this point? Lowest goal output in eight years this season. Lowest point output in seven years. He's been over sixty points twice hin his career. He was -19 on a pretty good San Jose team, and he's been a minus player four of the last five years. All for the low, low price of $4.5 million. One of the most overrated players in the league... if it weren't for the fact that he scores some big goals in the playoffs.
He's like the anti-Joe Thornton.

Marleau's a bit of a risk for another team to take on, that's for sure. I do think that he stopped playing for Wilson a long time ago, and I think he would have a huge weight lifted off his shoulders if he went to another team and was not their captain.
There is a lot of talent there, but you are right - it's hard to ignore facts. That said, I think there are a lot of teams (Kings included) that would be willing to take a chance on Marleau having better success with their franchise.
Thornton - good god, what a nightmare. Great guy in the regular season, can't get it done in the playoffs. It's not just those two guys though - that whole team has issues.

*shrug*
I wouldn't touch him. Overpriced. Or at least the only way I'd touch him would be if San Jose took one of my problem contracts in return.

I hear ya. I don't know Marleau well enough, but Thornton just doesn't have the right personality for playoff hockey. This is why the Bruins decided they'd be better off going in another direction.
He doesn't have the "Screw it, I'm just gonna make something happen even if I have to skate through five guys to do it" attitude that guys like Sakic and Modano and Messier and Lemieux have. I don't think he wants the puck on his stick in big situations, and I think he tries to avoid screwing up more than he tries to make plays.
It's his personality. Way, way, WAY too laid back. He'll never be the most important piece of a Stanley Cup winner. It's just not in him.

2 goals and 3 assists this playoff year. He had 1 point in the previous 38 playoff games. The more i watch Dallas, the more Im convinced they will win it all.
