About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I'm not saying that he's been fantastic or anything, but Thornton does have a game winner and 4 assists now.
wow...there is a lot of anti-Joe sentiment here...but from what I have seen it's been pretty much a team effort as far as 'choking' goes...Marleau getting beatdown and no-one stepping up tipped the balance towards Calgary's physical play...hell, Campbell was a great pick up for the Sharks, but they should have picked up some muscle too. Too much finesse...not enough grit. This series goes 7...I think.

On the contrary, he shouldn't have so much to disprove. People look at box scores as if they tell the whole story.
I don't know about "people," but I look at the play on the ice and the body language.
I'm rooting for him, and I've defended him, including against Gator Mike, but there was no way around it early on in this series. The thing is, he's a freakin' Joe Thornton. He should be putting Ryan Clowe to shame, not the other way around.

I would say more than the goal, was the desire he showed to take over the game at the end there. He kept tracking down the puck and making plays until they scored.
He probably wouldn't be considered so much of a "choker" if he played with some wingers who could finish, but the dude still has a goal and 3 assists. That's about even with his goals to assists ratio in the regular season.

Ryan Clowe is to San Jose as Chris Kontos was to Los Angeles...
