The players that I like from Calgary who will be UFA's are as follows
Stephane Yelle - He always works hard, scores big goals and is great defensively and solid in the faceoff circle. He's getting up there though, so I wouldn't sign him for more than a 2 year deal.
Eric Godard - Obviously tough, not a bad skater, and will take on anyone. With Ivanans around, we don't really need him, but I like him regardless.
Jim Vandermeer - Always liked him. He's tough, and not even that bad of a hockey player.
Daymond Langkow - Not a true first line center, but a great second line, and without Stamkos we'll need one. However, I'm sure he'll command a disgusting salary in free agency, and I wouldn't overpay much for him.
Nolan will be yet another year older, so I think I'd pass on him. Conroy, been there and done that. Huselius is the kind of streaky player that drives coaches and fans insane, but if the price is right (no more than 3.5) I'd take a shot. CuJo, solid work tonight but not a fit for the Kings. He'd be Sean Burke part 2.
so if San Jose chokes and Calgary chokes... AND Dallas is well known for choking, Nashville will never get beyond the first round, Colorado is a retread with shaky goaltending and Detroit can't get it done anymore...
apparently all that's left is Anaheim.
we get it, your team is THAT good.
You know, I never thought of it like that. I like the way you think.
I don't think Langkow is available, it sounds like he's already signed a lengthy extention. Maybe they're waiting until after the playoffs to make it official.
Vandermeer will probably be a reasonably priced D who plays physically. Philly fans hated him, they were glad he was traded, I'm not sure why. I can see several teams interested in signing him over the summer.
This young team needs veteran presence, I think Nolan would be great for that, but I don't really see him being interested in signing in LA.

Good. Just say no to Langkow.
The kings need to get younger, not older. Jeff Carter please.
Also, looks as if Thornton is pulling another disappearing act once again. Same with Cheechoo.

The Flyers have really set themselves up for their RFA's to be ripe for the picking, and the Kings should go for it, but I doubt that they'll be the only team that's noticed.
After last night I concure; Thornton IS disappearing like the Kings when the game gets chippy.
Seems to me like they are failing the same way they failed last season. They get a lead and then try to make it stick by playing strong defense. When their opponent battles back they are completely back on their heels (for example, last night). Totally frustrating to see, considering I've been rooting for them to go all the way.

I won't complain one bit if Owen Nolan is wearing a Kings jersey next season.
Hell, give him the Kyle Calder special. 2 years, 2.7M per.
On a semi-related note... I wonder if Sutter and Lombardi will ever do a trade together. UFA's from one team to another are one thing, but I wonder if they would ever make a high profile trade together (given DL's comments at the breakfast).

I don't see the Sharks repeating the same mistake twice. They went into protect the lead mode as soon as they scored that third goal. There was way too much time left and you knew Keenan was telling his guys to stay disciplined and exploit the sharks sitting back on a lead. Even though Calgary didn't tie it up until the third, you could tell it was coming. They were patient but forechecked with a sense of urgency. It appeared the Sharks didn't notice that until it was too late.
wow...welcome back Sharks...you may have just saved Wilson's job...amazing final minutes...good stuff. This series and the Minn/Avs (barring tonite's game) have been the cream of the crop series-wise so far. Love's me some good hockey, hopefully my Devils'll start playin like it means something too
