About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. The Sharks just haven't been the same since the Kings put that whoop'in on them at Staples.
Of course the first game of a series is always a definitive indication of how the series will turn out. Anyone who remembers the Kings in the 93 playoffs (namely the Campbell final and the Stanley final) would attest to this.
I need to give some props to Versus for carrying the HD CBC feed. The game looked spectacular in HD. It used to be SD only for CBC simulcasts.

Let's face it, the Kings ended the Sharks hot streak. They proved several times this year that if you give Thornton one on one coverage with a guy like Zeus, you can pretty much neutralize him. He just wasn't too much of a factor, except for his breakaway non-goal.

Only two people bet on the Flames to win the series in the Sportsbook. I put down 1000 points (1000 pionts for each series, since all I had was 8000) and something else put... 3 points I believe.
That was it. Everyone else is thinking Sharks. =o

All I know is this: Of the teams that they realistically might have faced in the first round, the Flames were the one that was going to give them the biggest problem. Colorado, Nashville or Dallas would have been a better match up for them, IMO.

Tonights game should be interesting. Does San Jose come out with the desperation like they did the last minute and a half last night or do the buckle under the pressure?
Wilson changing the line up isn't exactly a confidence booster. Particularily when he says they played fine last night, just didn't get the bounces. Really? Then why the lineup change? Ok by me though, bring on Matt Carle.
The Sharks do NOT want to go to Calgary down by two. So while I'm really wanting Calgary to win both these games, I'd be surprised if a team as deep as the Sharks doesn't put up a better fight tonight. I still hope Calgary wins two and a row. They did good on the second night of back to backs all season. I can't wait for tonight. I expect the Sharks to do whatever it takes to win.
I hope unless it gets really dirty the officials let them play like last night.
I apparently like the Sharks much more than I thought. I have been yelling at them and getting excited about their goals. Not as much as I do for the Kings obviously, but I actually involuntarily have been saying "Yeah!" when they score.

REfs call 7 straight penalties (some deserved some total BS) on the Flames and its not that hard to believe.
One positive thing to get out of this game is killing off all those penalties and two 5 on 3's and the Flames were only 9 seconds from not allowing a goal.
Tonight was disappointing but going to Calgary with a split isn't horrible.
