I don't know about that. It's been a tight series, and Thornton's at his usual point per game pace. A hat trick (as long as they win) would be a huge step in the right direction for big Joe.
i don't know... a point per game isn't exactly elevating his game. especially when you're considered among the best players in the game and regarded as the best centerman in the game to boot.
i think a Joe Thornton led team must be LED by Joe Thornton beyond the 2nd round... people have shat on Marty Turco for less.

Like Guy Carbonneau said about Carey Price. "Our best player has to be our best player". Some might argue that the Sharks best player is Evgeni Nabakov, but he certainly is their best forward. Has Thornton played like the Sharks best forward in this series or the playoffs in general? I would say no.

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")

Excuse me for saying so...
But I think that's actually one of the coolest things about the Sharks this season. They don't just rely on one person to win. As seen in the past (ie. The Ducks with Kariya) one person can not make up for a lousy team.
The Sharks are seeing players like Marleau, Pavelski, and Cheechoo step up when they need it. Not too mention Nabby isn't too shabby. Plus, Thornton has a bunch of assists... he's not really a scorer so it's very appropriate. Their OT was sucking during the regular season and they've made a significant change since. There would be no reason to sack Ronnie. He's doing his job.
