The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenceman Ruslan Salei from the Florida Panthers for defenceman Karlis Skrastins and a third-round draft pick.

Colorado made a lateral move in trading for Salei for Skrastins.
Blake would still be an upgrade.
actually, i think Florida gets the better end of this... Salei and Skrastins are the same age (i think), he is slightly more expensive and under contract for two more years (Skrastins for one more), and they got a pick.

I thought Skrastins was something of a warrior blue-line type? Solid, stay at home guy?
I haven't been paying attention to Ruslan Salei since he left the Ducks, but unless he's a different player, I wouldn't have traded Skrastins for him straight up.
