Richards to Dallas
Hossa to Montreal
Stars reaching for Richards; Habs zero in on Hossa - NHL Experts Blog - NHL - Yahoo! Sports
"The Dallas Stars will acquire Tampa Bay Lightning center Brad Richards in a multi-player trade and Atlanta Thrashers right wing Marian Hossa is heading to the Montreal Canadiens before the NHL trade deadline, an executive within the league said Monday night."
Until a more reliable source confirms, and actually gives details of the deals, this still sounds like the same speculation we've been hearing all day.
If all Tampa gets is Smith, Fistric and Halpern, they were seriously hosed. Smith is pretty solid, but I can't believe they couldn't have received a better package elsewhere.

Its still a Yahoo blogger, but its likely this will be verified in the morning. For now, its still a rumor.

Tampa Bay had to unload Richards' salary and probably had to take less than fair value. Also, I think Richards was another guy with a NTC, and he didn't give the Lightning many choices in terms of teams he would be willing to waive it for in a trade.
I don't think any players, other than the elite of the elite, will be getting NTCs in future contracts.

Even if they have to move him, this deal stinks...Feaster's ass should be canned. I wouldn't be completely sold on Smith's upside being better than Ramo's at this point. And...Halpern and Fistric? Wow...if this ends up being true, salary dump or no, Tampa Bay got screwed.

While Smith's upside may not be higher than Ramo's, Smith is NHL ready today. Ramo, not so much.

Perhaps, but Smith has only been required to fill in as a capable backup on a very good defensive team. I am not sold that if you throw him behind Tampa's porous defense, he performs any better than their current goalies.

Most people said the exact same thing about Ilya Bryzgalov.
