This confused me for a long time, but then I looked at where his injury is on his neck and it's much higher than I thought. That also explains why the vascular surgeons said it was lucky the carotid artery wasn't completely severed.

that's why jokinen said that even neck protection would not have prevented this incident. zednik is a LUCKY guy, real lucky. i'm happy for him.
