If all he did was help propel the Caps into the playoffs I would agree... but then there's what he did while with the Habs.
HUET!!!!
Montreal Canadiens.

there is no disputing Huet's performance over his 12 games with Washington. but Montreal has not missed a beat (apparently) no matter who has been in net.

Yea.... Huet is %50 of the Habs goaltending success this season. I'm not prepared to believe that Price would have done just as well shouldering the load by himself and clearly the Habs weren't either.
Ordinarily I don't think it's fair to award a goaltender the MVP award because it's such a different position... but in this case I'll make the acception... because Huet has actually been THE most VALUABLE player in the league this season.

i can't say i believe or disbelieve it, but i certainly wouldn't say "clearly." i mean, Montreal hit the top of the pack and traded Huet for a draft pick and not only was that a major statement, it was (is) a major gamble to bank on a rookie (and 2nd year pro), regardless of Huet's impending free agency.

still gotta put the puck in the net and Ovechkin did... often.
Washington has scored 239 goals this season, Alex has factored in 112 of them.
playoffs or not, Ovechkin is going to and should win the Hart Trophy.
regardless, Huet has been solid enough to give Washington a chance.. AO has played unbelievably, but Huet is the reason they are where they are. Kudos to him. Ovie should win the Hart easily though. I mean 65 goals and 112 points.... damn.
