I laugh at 8 games. This will have little to no effect on what Anaheim can or will do in the playoffs.

Well, I guess a real duck fan can't really be the biggest supporter of the game being... clean or at least human. Cut throat here, smashed brain there, it's just part of the game. That's why there aren't that many duck fans, I guess.

Dude... I'm REALLY curious to see what your argument is. Why does Pronger get 8 and Simon gets 30? It's a stomp... the same thing Simon did.
Like I said earlier - I'm glad they did at least something, but he should have gotten more. A lot more.

didn't you become an NHL fan the day Anze was drafted?

I explained it earlier so I'll give it to you in a quick nutshell. It's all about reasonable doubt. Pronger had it and Simon didn't. Pronger can argue that the stomp occurred as he was turning and trying to get back into the play. It can be argued that the stomp was careless and unintentional.
Chris Simon doesn't have this excuse. It was a non hockey play that happened as the players were line changing and getting off the ice. His was blatantly deliberate. He did not have reasonable doubt.
Not only that but the Simon stomp occurred a mere 2 months after his NHL record suspension for the Hollweg incident. ** edit: plus the NHL had already established a precedent with hitting a guy with your stick in the head thanks to McSorely/Brashear. It's apples and oranges. If Chris Simon is too ****ing dumb to commit his infractions in a way that can be viewed as game context then that's his problem.
Besides....I also laugh because of the hypocricy of it all. I remember when Pronger nailed McAmmond I argued the exact same thing that Brian Burke argued after the game. Chris Neil's attempted decapitation of Andy McDonald was the worst part of Game 3. Far worse than the Pronger elbow. The response I got here was that McDonald wasn't hurt and McAmmond wasn't. Fast forward to today and for kicks I used the "Kessler wasn't hurt argument." Imagine my lack of surprise when that didn't matter at all.
I get that you guys hate Pronger and I actually think it's fun and wouldn't like it if you guys started liking Duck players. However, the hypocricy and the constant bitching is rather unbecoming.

No, he probably shouldn't have, but 8 games is not enough, if Simon deserved 30.
And this is a big part of the reason why:

I stopped reading right there. Trying to keep a nice image, huh? And to think that words like "objective" and "hypocrisy" are two of your favorite words... come on, stop thinking that your fart doesn't smell bad. Don't camouflage your homerism with fake rationalism.

Sorry OP, but Pronger had already more or less stepped on him once trying to get himself clear. He had a leg free, proceeded to look straight down at Kesler, and then clearly stomped him. If it is possible to read intent at all on a hockey play, that was one of those plays, and the intent couldn't possibly have been anything other than trying to hurt the guy. Not hurt in a "I'm gonna destroy your femoral artery" kind of way, but a "WTF is that **** jackass?" retailatory way.
Either way, 8 games is flat out not enough for a player that has been suspended 7 times in his career, and was using his skate in an attempt to injure.
While on the topic, I thought Simon's stomp was the same kind of "WTF *******!" type of play as well, despite being after the play, and despite his prior record. He was trying to stir **** up and be a goon, not kill a guy.

wow..you are afraid of dissenting opinion. That is both cowardly and sad.
i personally thought pronger deserved 20 games. however, i'm not in the slightest surprise that he only got 8 (i had actually predicted 10).
the only rationalization i can provide is that prior to his stomping incident, chris simon was suspended 25 games so campbell handed him a greater penalty of 30 for the most recent infraction.
on the contrary, pronger had previously been suspended just one game each for the two elbows he dished out during last season's playoffs.
i'm not sure if this kind of history plays into how the league decides to reprimand players, but it's a thought i came across.
i'm just glad the league took a second look at it and dished out the 8 game penalty... it could have been worse. kessler could have had his leg cut and/or pronger could've gotten away with what seemed to be a customary 1 game suspension just for being an nhl star.

Which is why the suspension is bull**** and should have been more. Not 30 games, but he should have lost some playoff games.

OP, you must be in a 'I'm gonna go against the grain on everything just to stir the pot' mood. What Pronger did was irresponsible and dangerous and deserves punishment. Whether he's wearing orange and black or purple and silver or any other colors.
I'm just glad he got something because I figured they wouldn't do anything.

If we didn't knew OP better, I would have thought he was in his early 20's. Make that teens, it's the age where I would expect stubborn homerism like that. Just couldn't miss the opportunity...

I knew everything I needed to know when I read "It's all about reasonable doubt.". So why the hell would I read further? You base your opinion on irrational arguments and I base it on rational arguments. We can't get together here, it's theoretically impossible to have a discussion where one side is not rational and the other side is.
