Is it too early in the playoff season, or am I just not noticing them?

I saw the Ovechkin commercial and thought the dude looked like a classic Cave Man (challenging Bertuzzi for the title) and wondered if that's just his new style or his playoff beard.

I also vaguely remember them talking about the traditional playoff beard as being a thing of the past.

Mohawks are this year's beard so far. A few guys in Calgary and Washington are sporting them.

I think I've seen a couple guys with beards coming in, but not all that many.

Great 8 has had fuzz for a while it's just filling in. They aren't a thing of the past, many Ducks had beards last year.

Usually, players start growing their beards the first day of the playoffs. By the time they get to the cup finals, they become as manly as Tom Selleck. I remember Shanahan always had a good one that would progressively grow during the playoffs.

I still remember Pat Conacher's beard in '93. That was one ugly mug. Todd Marchant looked pretty nasty last year, too.
