spjon is one of the ok guys...despite his affinity for both the Kings n Wings.
just sayin
Gracias for that OP...my point is there are more deserving players who have played longer this season. Sojourn look at Brown's numbers and tell me he does not deserve it while leading the league in hits.
I can't stand Corey Perry (personal preference) so they should have chosen another Red Wing...Holmstrom is having a solid year just like Rafalski (even though he is D) and could have taken Hank's place.
I sitll do not understand the Niedermayer decision...but I guess he is in Bettman's love crew with Gretzky
I don't think any player who misses nearly the first 3 months of the season should be eligible for the All-Star Game, nepotism or not. It's ridiculous and a mockery to the other All-Stars. Is Niedermayer capable, of course, but again, just not this season.
This is a joke. Might as well have Selanne come back sometime this week and throw him in the All-Star mix as well. Hey, then there can be a team of Ducks on the ice at one-time versus the Eastern All-Stars!
P.S. And Birdman, don't reply with your "Who's the coach?" post...mkay?
With that stated, this is a courtesy vote to award a lifetime of accomplishments and not just half a season of sparkle. OP, you dont have to say it publicly, but even YOU cant be in 100% agreeance with a guy playing 17 games and then skating straight to the all star game. If it was Blake and not Nieds would you still be as for it??

Brown wasn't eligible to replace Rafalski. A forward can't replace a defenseman. If you're saying that Brown deserves to go to the All-Star Game, then yes, I agree... the problem is that while their goal-scoring totals are close, statistically Perry is better in every way. I know Brown has more hits, but that's not a stat that they are going to look at for the All-Star Game. Chris Neil lead the league in hits last season, and even if he had been putting up respectable numbers, he wouldn't have touched the All-Star Game. Now, I'll admit, Brown is different, but hits are just not a "skill" stat.
As for Holmstrom, he is in the same position as Brown. Perry is statistically superior to him in every way.
In fact, the only player who really had a shot of making it over Perry(besides Brown) in my eyes, was Huselius, who had 4 points more than Perry, while Perry had 6 more goals than him.

I don't think Blake is a good example. He hasn't been even remotely close to a superstar defenseman the past few seasons. Now, if it were Lidstrom, yes, I'd be all for it.

Plus we are still forgetting the main fact about Corey Perry----hmmm ends with urtle...oh yeah like Claude Lemieux he is a turtle,

I've already made my stance abundantly clear. If you are asking me that then you missed a post.
