Most social change in this country has been brought about by social protest.
For someone who claims to love the freedoms in this country, you are certainly forgetting where many of them come from...
I know where they came from.
Please give me an example of the last time a bunch of unemployed people marching in the middle of the freeway made a difference.

Karma to whomever can finish that.
I was simply stating that you obviosuly know what you're talking about when it comes to Russia, seeing as you have characters I can't read under your name.

I think this quote is one of the more... interesting... ones I've ever seen on this board. It ranks up there with Deeker in my opinion, and he was a hoot!

Mmm... your right, people should just shut up and ignore little things like the 1st amendment when it comes to changing policies that they see as unfair/unjust. If them damn darkies had just clammed up back in the 60's everything would be just peachy keen now. As it stands now, we gotta share jobs with em, let em live in our neighborhoods... God damn how I hate that there bill of rights.
THIS is why I start threads like this. Not so that I can lob in one liners to make myself feel smarter than people but because I enjoy intelligent debate (and what FishMonger brings to the table) about interesting topics.
Suck it.
Not sure of the tone of this, so I'm going to go with....
The fact that you're making up stuff like the idea that I feel the government should go unchecked just proves that you are not rational on this topic. If you're not rational, you have no credibility.
I was simply stating that you obviosuly know what you're talking about when it comes to Russia, seeing as you have characters I can't read under your name. (Go ahead, I'll leave it open, take pot-shots.)
So that's how I was supposed to interpret "you're celebrating their language under your name." Excuse me if your original phrasing didn't come through as a statement of respectful deference to one having some knowledge on the issue.

Yes, because I think people marching around and disrupting people is annoying and does more harm than good for a cause, I hate the Bill of Rights and the 1st Ammendment.
Nowadays, there are much better ways to get people's attention. Far more production comes from blogs and online activity than from standing on a street corner holding signs that say "No War." You know why people are honking? They already agree with you. Nobody changes their mind because of these things.
How fitting: The tone of some of you (i.e. Gollum and Maddogg) is the tone of those in those mobs (yes, they are mobs). They have the mentality of 'we're right, everyone else is wrong, and we're not listening to anyone.' This is not productive because the mob metality, which you people have, does not allow for independent, or even rational, thought.
Will the irony never stop: You're accusing me of being anti-American (not in those exact words, but writing sarcastic comments about your ignorance of my opinion on the Bill or Rights gives that impression). You say this because you're pissed off about the fact that I like having a tradition before sports games, I have reasons for it, and i express it. You are condemning me for arguing, when your whole basis is that we all have the right to express ourselves... to argue our point.
This is why I hate people who protest in mobs. I'm sure you're all intelligent people. When you jump on a bandwagon, it's no longer apparent.

I would ask for a link here too, but I honestly have no idea how one would "write sarcastic comments about [one]'s ignorance of [your] opinion" and I don't think I want to know.

I suppose you could have just thought Russian was cool, but I went on the assumption that it meant you knew the language, therefore probably had a better grip on the culture than I. Was I incorrect?

You were correct, but as I said, your phrasing, especially within the context, sounded snipy to me. If it wasn't meant to be, I withdraw my original response to it.

I have a knack for being inarticulate and having things come out the wrong way, especially online since people can't see me and hear my tone. But no, it was not meant to be snipy. My bad.
