students at brown feel powerless, so they throw pies. but chicken****s throw pies when they can't present/win an argument and they certainly won't get beat up for it, so they have nothing to lose and really aren't putting **** on the line. it's a false fantasy of significance for them.
chicken****s drive tanks and shoot unarmed students assembling in a square. the peasants in the chinese army feel very significant now because they are killing the educated class of chinese that actually think for themselves. Just like chicken**** Mao did decades ago.
Did you know that this pretty much the official state policy of the current totalitarian, power-usurping Russian government?
No, but you should know, you're celebrating their language under your name.

Karma to whomever can finish that.
On the other hand repeatedly calling everyone of a certain belief a douchebag is perfectly ok, right?
I didn't say what their beliefs are. I simply stated that if you march in protest, you're a d-bag. If you think that it makes a lick of difference to governemnt officials, or does anything other than piss off drivers trying to get to work (some people actually have jobs, you know. Bloody proestors), you're naive.

What does this mean even? I mean, really? Is this one of those "You're pooping your little space pants" comebacks?
You can ignore the comparisons of what you're propagating to the current and past totalitarian regimes, and mix it up with ad hominems all you want, but it's not going to change their relevance.
BTW, just so you know, 13 years ago, the government that you're defending so staunchly, ran a thorough background check on me, and examined me on the U.S. history and government, and found me fitting of being a U.S. Citizen. Since, according to you, what the U.S. government does should not be subject to question, you can go ahead and take its word for it and stop your laughable infantile insinuations.

So, according to you, this dude is like the ultimate douchebag, right?

You don't really believe that, do you?
Most social change in this country has been brought about by social protest.
For someone who claims to love the freedoms in this country, you are certainly forgetting where many of them come from...
Oh, and to answer your original (sort of) question Doc, no... I don't think it's time to stop. When done well, it gets me amped and when done exceptionally, it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. However, I do think it's time for people to stop taking the position that if you don't stand or put your hand over your heart or take your hat off, that you're against America. Every time I go to games, there are always people doing what ever they feel like doing. Some stand quietly, some sing, some don't stand, some carry on a conversation. All I would ask is that those who do not participate for what ever reason, don't be disruptive. I was in St Louis at a Blues game and during the anthem these two guys are behind me carrying on a conversation quietly and I really didn't care for it, but to each his own. It's also Marine Corps (and imagine every other branch of the military) policy that when the anthem is playing when in uniform out doors you stop and salute the flag or the direction the music is coming from if you can't see the flag, when indoors in uniform you stand at the position of attention facing the music, or in civilian attire you face the flag, (this is new for the prior service members) and at "modified" position of attention put your hand over your heart. So really there was nothing (technically) I could have said or done if I felt inclined to. But all of the sudden one of them shouts "F***ing whore!" and that pissed me off. After the anthem they asked me and my friend who was also at the game why we were standing the way we were and we told them because we're Marines and we were honoring our flag, our anthem, and our country. Not in a condescending way either, but they got it and apologized. No harm no foul. That's all I ask. If you can't or don't want to "participate" it doesn't make you any less American or patriotic than those that do, just don't be rude about it.

So why should we keep the anthem in NHL games again?
I like it. That's why I want to keep it.
