What a great game that was!! The offense really stepped up tonight and they didn't look like the same old Devils. I think they really wanted to get out of that slump and get Marty #500. How bought that save when he came across the crease and caught it with his glove on the goal line and how about that weird goal by Gionta. I see this as the first win of a win streak. Go Devils!!

Congrats to him. He's worked hard for it. Too bad the Devs are playing subpar, somewhat KINGS type hockey at the moment. Regardless, I'm glad to see this milestone come and I see a few more coming in the next 2 or 3 seasons for him.

I can't answer for everyone else but I can tell you about me at least. I grew up in NJ as a Kings fan and for the most part hated the Devils for the longest time. Then during the 99-00 season me and a buddy started going to several Devils games and they grew on me. Doesn't hurt that they were fantastic that season. Watching them gave me a great respect for them and I've been a fan ever since. Cool thing is that the first game I went to that season was the night of Scott Gomez's first goal. At the time me and my buddy had no idea who this guy with a Mexican last name was, haha.

Well, it's basically a tribute to LGK'ers that as a Jersey transplant who goes to Kings games, I get better conversation about all things hockey and otherwise on this board as opposed to boards dedicated to my Devils.

I became a devils fan in 1999 when my grandpa in nj told me how great they are and i should watch a game. I watched a couple and fell in love. I miss the days of danyeko, stevens, gomez, and the rest of the gang. I think with that last win, the turnaround of the season begun and they will start to win more games. We NEED TO FIX THE POWER PLAY FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! GO DEVILS!!

Here's my excuse:

Born in San Diego, raised in Santa Clarita, went back to SD for college and stayed since.

I was in 7th grade for the Kings Cup run and I jumped on the bandwagon. All the cool kinds in 8th grade were obsessed with hockey so I naturally tried to fit in.

But the Kings miss the playoffs that year, so I decide I need somebody to cheer for. Devils had some rookie named Brodeur who was doing well and I always hated Messier, so that was a natural fit for me.

Following year the Kings still sucked and the Devils won the Cup which sealed the deal for me. I take for granted how awesome the team has been since then. The Kings meanwhile traded Luc, Sandstrom, Zhitnik, Sydor, etc etc and I quickly lost interest.

Devils are the main team I cheer for, but I still have a soft spot for the Kings.

ok...gonna post this on this thread so I don't draw a ton'o'heat...but Marty got 502...and he is 11 shutouts away from the record...so before y'all toss your homer/jack-off/Devils fanboy comments my way...well, I dunno...go ahead...all I know is my boys are finally %500, Marty is stealin games, and the Devils are playing Devils hockey...w/a twist. Creepin up in the standings and starting to make all eastern teams look over their shoulders...oh happy day!
