About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. How big of a controversy is this going to be and is Kiprusoff going to want out after the way he's been dicked by his coach in this series?
How big of a controversy is this going to be and is Kiprusoff going to want out after the way he's been dicked by his coach in this series? It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I'm sure the Canadian media will sensationalize it. Especially if Calgary loses by one goal.

Game 3 - Kiprusoff gives up 3 goals in the first 3 minutes. Cujo comes in, slams the door, and Calgary marches back and wins the game.
Game 7 - After leading 2-1, Kiprusoff gives up 3 goals in 8 minutes, is being outshot 30-13, and Keenan yanks Kipper to try and spark his team when they are trailing 4-2.
BTW, had he not made the change, they STILL would have lost.
Bernier, 1st Rounder, Cammalleri for Kipper and Mikael Backlund.
There's no way Lombardi gives up Bernier, and no way Sutter gives up Backlund. The Flames do not have the type of young talent lined up where they can afford to sacrafice any of their top prospects.
I'm not sure Keenan is going to be around next year, but I wouldn't blame it on a goaltender controversy. He wasn't able to make the Flames a more consistent team so he hasn't proven to be an upgrade over Playfair.
Keenan's biggest mistake tonight wasn't pulling Kipper. That second goal was a softy and its not the first time Kipper has looked shaky in this series. Plus, defense was being irresponsible and maybe Kipper getting pulled would force them to tighten up. Keenan's biggest mistake was his failure to call a timeout after San Jose's third goal. The Flames needed to be settled down, they were scrambling around and playing a chaotic game. A coach should recognize that and stop it before things get out of hand. A three goal lead in a game seven when you're the road team is totally out of hand.
