Carboneau-understandable.
Babcock- WTF? Am I the only who thinks Dave Tippett is way more deserving?
Admittedly, I'm biased... but why Babcock instead of say, Claude Julien?
Babcock's team earned two more points this year than they did last year, and nine fewer points than they earned two years ago. The closest thing to a major injury his team suffered through was to Tomas Holmstrom.
Julien's Bruins earned 18 more points than they did a year ago. They posted their best season since the lockout, and they did it even though they lost more player games to injuries than all but two teams in the league - neither of which made the playoffs.
i don't care if Babcock is coaching the deepest team (opinion of many), he is a very respectable coach and i have always loved the style he used. Even with the ducks, they were a respectable team back then because of how he coached them. I wished the kings had picked him up :/
It just irks me when the best team in the league talent and roster wise everyone throws praise at the coach. It was like in the late 80s/90s when George Seifert inherited the 49ers dynasty that Bill Walsh put together and won Coach of the Year. I mean that team was one of the best NFL teams ever-I probably could have coached them to a 10 win season.
As for Tippett-I seriously thought this would be the year Dallas started showing its age but theyve been a great team all year and seriously over achieving IMO.

I don't know - outside of Zetterberg and Datsyuk, I don't think the Wings are dominate on the offensive side of the puck with talent. They do work incredilbly hard, and they play amazing defense at all positions. A lot of this, I'm afraid, comes from coaching.
I hate the Wings, and I hate watching the Wings even more, but I certainly think that he deserves this nomination. I remember on this very website, the Red Wings were one of the teams that were finally going to be reeled in because of the salary cap. They haven't missed a beat.

Exactly! Detroit doesn't have the deepest or most talented roster in the NHL. They have 1 great line and 3 lines filled with role players. 1 great defenseman 1 above average defenseman and 4 role playing defensemen. Then comes the goaltending. Hasek should have retired LAST season and Chris Osgood is... well... Chris Osgood.
Detroit wins because of Babcock's system and because every player on that team is called upon to only play to their strength.
Mike Babcock was the best coach in the league this year.
