The New York Islanders have acquired 24-year old right wing Matt Keith from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in exchange for forward Darryl Bootland. Keith, who was with the Portland Pirates of the AHL prior to the trade, will report to the Islanders’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Keith has played in 34 games with Portland this season and scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points. He has appeared in 24 career NHL games, all with the Chicago Blackhawks, over the course of three seasons. Keith has scored two goals with three assists for five points. The 6-2, 200 pond native of Edmonton, AB has spent parts of three seasons in the NHL. In 315 career games in the AHL, the Edmonton native has scored 74 goals, collected 88 assists and picked up 242 minutes in penalties. He was selected by Chicago in the second round in the 2001 NHL Draft.
It seems like the Ducks are the only team who have been making trades all season - at a lot of seemingly pointless ones at that.
Key word here is "POINTLESS" as trades by the Ducks have yielded players like:
Travis Moen (for Michael Holmqvist),
Brad May (for Michael Wall),
Brandon Bochenski (scored tonight, for Shane Hnidy and a 6th Round Pick),
Samuel Pahlsson (Selke Candidate, for Andrei Nazarov and Patrick Traverse),
George Parros (Enforcer/Marketing Gimmick, for draft option),
Francois Beauchemin, (for Sergei Federov),
Sean O'Donnell (for Joel Perrault),
draft pick),
J.S. Giguere (2nd Round Pick)
If Lombardi could do half as well the Kings wouldn't be so damn sorry right now.

A difference I see between Lombardi and Burke is best illustrated by comments from Crawford in a recent interview:
Coach Marc CRAWFORD:
"We’re not satisfied with where we’re at. Elements of our game we’re very pleased with. We’re very pleased with the offensive production of our young forwards. I ‘d have to say we’re very pleased with our defense in most areas. The displeasure with our team has been the scoring at the bottom end of our lineup, and the play at the bottom end of the lineup, and our defensive play. So we can’t fool anybody, we’re not anywhere near where we need to be a good team in both those areas.
"How do you win games when you’re a team like us that isn’t overwhelmingly blessed with superstar players? Then you have to have depth of talent. We’ve got a great group of forwards at the top of our lineup, most of them under the age of 25 – O’Sullivan, Cammalleri, Frolov, Brown and Kopitar who all are top, top players who are having sensational years. Brown is having a career year, O’Sullivan is having a career year. We’re very pleased with those guys. And you go past that, we haven’t gotten a contribution from the other people, though (Ladislav) Nagy is starting a little bit now after a slower start. We haven’t got enough contribution from those other people in all the areas, whether it’s been hitting, robust play, certainly stymieing the opposition, which oftentimes a third line and a fourth line do. So they’re usually there to provide energy, they’re there to be defensive stalwarts for you. And, no, we’re not pleased with that. I’d be lying to anybody if I said we were.
The Ducks make moves. Lombardi and Crawford talk about stuff...
After last nights fight against Belak, Parros limped to the locker room. Bootland is nothing more then an AHL caliber goon. Connecting the dots this tells me Parros's knee is in bad shape.
