About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. What city do you think should be Hockeytown now?
Do you think that Detroit still is or is it another city?
Come on gimme a break that one is easy...and just look at the Banners to prove it, along with the retired numbers:
Delvecchio, Abel, Lindsay, Howe, Yzerman.
If that does not prove it look at the number of Norris Trophy winners, Art Ross winners, Selke winners and the number of Presidents trophies. Is there any doubt that it is the Motor City
Minnesota has sold out EVERY SINGLE GAME THEY HAVE PLAYED at Xcel Energy Center. Detroit has had trouble filling the seats all season.
The thread asks where HockeyTown is NOW, not when Howe or whoever played there.
Jon... you're my homie and all but I gotta call BS on this one.
I want the Wild fans to have this title. Not the assjacking Wings fans.
On top of that its the birthplace of American hockey. More american players come from Minnesota than anywhere else in the US.
Detriot is, has been, and always will be Hockeytown.
Regardless if the Michigan economy sux and nobody there can afford a ticket.
Nevermind the fact that it's one of the dirtiest cities in the states.
Detriot fans are loyal, hardcore hockey fans that support their team in legions in every NHL city. Other franchises can only dream of having the fanbase that the Wings have. Don't get me wrong, the Dead Things are one of my most disliked teams, but I dislike them because of the fans.

The fans won't even attend the games in the playoff because they don't know if the Red Wings are going to win. Even the Kings beat them in the playoff. Remember
Oh yeah Daxx...well in Detroit they are pretty damn good at their assjacking...do you really think that is a tire in the middle of the Red Wings logo (ha ha ha)
True about Xcel center Daxx. However, you do have to look at the entire franchise as a whole. That is hat I was going off of. Now Detroit is in the middle of a serious recession where you could get a house for about 50 grand and that could be a contributing factor. Detroit always asks for their playoff seat hold money way early (Last year it was around late Feb. or early march) and many people will use their tax refund money to pay for the seats.
