Great TRADE DEADLINE DAY Idea from Boomer on XM...

Since most people are at work during the day and in Canada this day is like a national holiday....move the trade deadline back to Monday (or keep it Tuesday) but extend the deadline to the evening so when people get home they can tune in.

Sports make money by broadcasting on TV (well maybe not the NHL) so broadcast the final few hours with your analysts and don't schedule any games that night. People will all be home and following the events. Even during the day TSN's website was at full bandwidth.

I think it's a great idea...What you guys think?

I think they should make it the Monday following the NHL All-Star Game.

Do all the Skills Competition crap on a Friday night, play the game Saturday morning and then have Sunday and Monday to go bonkers with trades.

move it back a week to presidents day, then it'll be a holiday in the us and canada can start remembering our past presidents as well

awww... the lmaeault* was partially due to the sheer genius of what kind of a weekend that would be like. it's almost like having tip-a-king right before the deadline, BUT BETTER!!!

I don't know if I am going to watch the deadline again with analysts if it is the same as it was this year. I was a little cheesed listening to Pang and those idiots babble and goof off like a group of morons. People walking around in front and behind the camera. It felt so unprofessional and amateur it made me wince comparing the sport of hockey to other celebrated sports in the U.S. like Baseball, Football, and Basketball. I don't want to have to listen to a bunch of idiots checking their blackberry phones ever 30 seconds when I can just watch a movie or play a game and refresh a blog page :P
