Christ. Richards has been playing great hockey this season, but my god 10-12 years?

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
just might. Richards is a monster a future (next season) team of the captain imho.
Now as a flyers fan I abhor this signing on the grounds that I abhor ANY signing over 5 years, 6 at the MAX.
If this was for 6 years at the price I would be fine with it but 10-12. Good lord lets just hope it isn't guarenteed and that there is not an NTC in it.

My God, I thought I was the only one. I love Kopitar and all, but I am against any contract for more than 5 years. I'd begrudgingly accept 6 years... but if it's 10-12, then it better be a seriously low cap hit for a future star to make it worthwhile.

Even with all the talk of league contracts trending that way to tie up their youth before they bail out as FA's, that seems extreme. I think we will see more of it, and we can thank Kevin Lowe in some respects.
