Talk about being strong down the middle. Richards, Briere, and Carter.
The trade rumors around Carter made sense, but it just goes to show you how important being strong down the middle is.
Someone will have to be moved though right? Maybe Umberger? I'm just guessing.

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
Kapanen just retired, Gagne's still a little dubious, and Lupul is still Lupul. I understand being strong down the middle, but why move Umberger unless it is for an upgrade on the wing?

I'm sure they'd prefer to keep him but it's the whole salary cap thing.
Also I think the Flyers are banking on Giroux to play some sort of role next year. Maybe he doesn't make the team out of camp, but I think he finishes the season as a regular contributer.
where did Potulny project, because they just traded him too didn't they?
Potulny went to the Oil, I think...
Downie (ugh) and Giroux are the best bets for increased ice time, but Umberger was gold in the playoffs.
Philly is going to want picks because they don't really have a lot of NHL-level holes, just room for upgrades on their current roster or lateral moves.
