Flames acquire Vandermeer from Flyers

Flyers acquired the pick for Vandermeer. The bar is being set-players like Modry and Vandermeer are going for 3rds. Almost have to think why didnt we trade Modry for Vandermeer straight up?

That would have added some of the needed toughness on the back end!

Yeah but he fights. On that same note you have to think that DL was probably offered Vandermeer and opted for the 3rd.

There is actually a team that can stand to get a little softer - it's the Flyers. I think Modry for vandermeer is a good trade off.

Vandermeer has a decent ceiling to be a solid NHL defenseman - but he really hasn't been the same since the Flinn incident.
