About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Turco was money in the playoffs last season
Yeah, I guess Turco should have gotten that 4th shutout in the opening road to get them past Vancouver last season.
Are you seriously looking past the Stars with the way they've walked over your team this season? You know better than anyone that the Ducks are 1-5 against the Stars this year while being outscored 21-10. You tell me if these are the same old Stars. Now you add in Brad Richards on their 2nd line and you've got the deepest team in the West.
Ducks were 1-3 in the 05/06 regular season against Colorado. Ducks swept Colorado in the 2nd round. Never use what happens in the regular season to determine what will happen in the playoffs.
I'd be impressed with Turco's 3 shutouts agasint Vancouver if....well, if it wasn't Vancouver. Also, of the 3 shootouts only one was impressive (35 saves in game 2). The other two were 21 save efforts. Turco has always benefitted from one thing.....solid defense. He sees far fewer shots than most goaltenders (probably all goaltenders) and Dallas' trap defense when they go up a goal helps a bit too. In my opinion he is the most overrated goaltender in the NHL.
It's Barry Bonds all over again. Once good playoff performance (02 vs the Angels) doesn't wipe out a track record of post season futility. Of the top 4 teams in the West my money is on Dallas not coming out of the first round.

If the oilers keep playing the way that they have been, 8-2-0 in the last 10 and 80 pts. they will end up taking Vancouver's spot in the playoffs, 5-4-1 in the last 10 and 84 pts.

...and Edmonton opens the flood gates against Phoenix.
How bitchen would it be if Edmonton makes the finals (hey, it unexpectedly happened before) and Dallas gets eliminated in the first round (hey, it unexpectedly happened before)?
If the Oilers can beat Vancouver they'll be within 3 points of the 8th seed
I doubt they'll be able to make the playoffs though. They have a pretty tough schedule from here on out. All the teams on their remaining schedule are playoff caliber.
The Oilers might actually make the playoffs!!!!!!! And Dallas has yet to clinch!!!!!!!!
I know that the Oilers have played two more games than Nashville and Vancouver... but at the moment they're tied for 8th place in the west with the most wins.
So I expect all of you to be rooting for Calgary, Detroit and *gulp* Anaheim tonight....
