"significantly setting them back" is a matter of perspective.
What am I... ****ing retarded? I was referring to the fact that they won the Stanley Cup and are contenders to repeat. I said "team" not "organization".

1 of their 7 defenseman has a contract expiring after this season and the another 5 have contracts expiring after next season, so you're potentially looking at a defensive core consisting of: Pronger, (the in my opinion overrated) Beauchemin, Huskins, and DiPenta.
Mikkelson and Festerling are signed through i believe, and Salcido will be an RFA after next season... so you have HIS qualifying offer to be considered as well. which should happen considering Brian made the All-Star team this season.
hell. i think they better HOPE Edmonton wins the lottery and are maybe, actually looking to take Drew Doughty their damn selves!
All the more reason for them NOT TO TRADE THAT PICK... which is what I've been arguing since the outset.
They NEED that pick, Edmonton just lost Horcoff and they STINK.
I repeat... The Ducks will win the Stanley Cup this season AND pick first overall in the draft.
No matter how you look at it, the Ducks are going to get someone who we're not going to like seeing them get. Kevin Lowe's little birthday present to Burke in the form of 4 first round picks (yup, we're going to have to worry about this for another 3 years) is going to pay off in the form of one of the following:
-Stamkos
-Doughty
-Bogosian
-Schenn
-Pieterangelo
And it's going to suck no matter who it is.

They only got EDM 1st, 2nd and 3rd round choices as compensation for Penner, not 3 first rounders.
If all Anaheim wants to do is take another run at the cup, which makes perfect sense btw, there is no reason for them to ditch their (EDM's) first round pick to anyone when they could easily just sign Forsberg outright. It's obvious the only place Forsberg wants to play is for a specific contender and I'm sure he would sign cheap cheap cheap to get a real good chance at another Stanley Cup.

The Leafs are the team that are going to do the major tank job, IMHO.
