I was disappointed too. Hayward didn't have the meltdown I was expecting when Parros got his 17 min of penalties and Eager didn't get any.
Well . . . he SHOULD have had one over the Bertuzzi instigator - because Adams clearly was looking for trouble jumping into that pile and throwing the first blow - the fact that Bertuzzi dropped the gloves and did things the right way, he shouldn't have been given an instigator for that.
The Parros thing was the right call all the way. If you're going to take 17 minutes for something like that, you might as well go after the guy that originally got the Ducks all riled up in Rene Bourque. At least that sends a message. Eager was only talking to Pronger after his board of Barker seconds earlier - something that Pronger should have been called for.
I don't see how the Hawks even pulled this one out. And I especially don't see how it is humanly possible to score on Giguere; between his huge leg pads and even BIGGER chest protector, there is literally nowhere to shoot. I don't see Anaheim losing more than two games in the playoffs. THIS SUCKS.
Sadly I was working a double shift and didn't get to see the game. I caught the last half of the 3rd or so on Comcast Sports Chicago's rebroadcast when I got home. But I was glad to see they held the Ducks to 19 shots and that the kid got a shutout in his second NHL start.
I also liked seeing Patrick Sharp score a shortie essentially without even a shot on goal.
As for all of the penalties, there was some bitching on the Hawks board over Pronger not getting more...
"No penalty when he cross checked adams in the boards face first. And they were crying about eagers play what a joke. Pronger should not play if he can't take a hit. I still don't know why he was starting crap with a broken jaw."
"He's just a dirty POS. He also should have gotten booted, and a game suspension, when he left the bench during the Parros/Eager encounter.... and Wiz/O'donnell fight. Nothing there either. The way I see it, Pronger got away with an entire game full of penalties tonight. At least three penalties, and a game suspension should have been called on him tonight, on top of the penalties he DID get. "
Like I said, didn't catch much of it but perhaps those of you who did can add some light to their complaints.
Parros should have been given a game misconduct for jumping Eager like that, its not just instigating, its straight goonery. I'm glad we don't have that piece of trash anymore.
I was watching the Chicago feed (and in HD might I add). When the hawks got awarded the goal for what would have been a penalty shot I flipped over to the ducks feed, expecting a hayward meltdown. Suprisingly, there wasn't one (at least for the minute or so that I was on the ducks feed). I really expected hayward to give it to the refs.

I hate the instigator and agree with your call of it being BS about Bertuzzi getting it. That said-it actually started with a scrum when Corey Perry came behind Adams and gave him a face wash. Adams turns around and pops Perry with his gloves on before Bertuzzi comes in and they both drop.
Your take on the Parros/Pronger/Eager/Bourque thing was pretty much spot on and exactly the way I saw it as well. Pronger should have got called for Boarding.
On that same note and just to expand discussion-if Pronger is going to run guys and plays his typical borderline dirty game while wearing the jaw guard; is it really considered bad hockey etiquette to punch Pronger in the jaw or face area? Seems to me if Pronger didnt want to get punched in the face and protect his jaw he could simply play a "cleaner" type game until the protector comes off.
