This is great news for NHL Center Ice and NBA League Pass customers as those two channels cover the Knicks, Islanders, Devils, Rangers, and Sabres.
None of the HD games from these two networks will appear on channel 94 or 95. MPEG4 only so they're going to be on their RSN channel and, when available, on the CI and LP packages.
However, the Sabres games in HD are received on a separate feed so the Sabres games will NOT be in HD when these two channels are launched until that feed can be brought in via fiber in a few weeks...but that is coming as well (stay patient Sabres fans...soon)
Again, tomorrow is likely, but not 100% just yet but that is the plan.

Its about time. I thought it was rediculous that I can get the weather channel in HD but I live in Brooklyn and can't get the Rangers, Devils or Islanders in HD.

The launch has been moved to 12/5/07. They are pushing it to next Wednesday to keep with policies of launching channels mid week, makes it easier to troubleshoot Thursday and Friday while fully staffed then on a weekend when that is not the case.

And they are on. Rangers, Islanders, Devils games now all in HD. Sabres will be coming later since apparently their HD games are carried on a fiber line directly to TimeWarner cable offices in Buffalo. They've got to get that link to DirecTV and then they'll be active.
This is actually a pretty significant event - these networks (MSG, FSNY) are own by Cablevision (Jim Dolan & Co. - google his name for a littany of crap that he's pulled over the years) who have notoriously been against having competing television providers carry their signals. Either DirecTV paid big bucks for the rights, or they caught Dolan napping at the right time (probably the former).

good **** Tony, thanks for all the updates. Have you noticed with CI moving from 769-784, they have less channels available for the HD feed there, is that something is being worked on also, or is it just going to be a wait and see sort of thing?

They actually have more. They went from 764-776 (12) to 769-784 (15) + the -1 HD feeds (30 total). The NHL can't ever have more than 15 games on at once, so DirecTV now has capacity for every game possible. On days then they have more than 15 feeds available, they'll split the time blocks for 4-7PM games and 7-10PM.

I've got the Devils in HD... which means the Rangers and Islanders will be as well... except of course the Isladners aren't tonight because the Devils get FSNY and the Knicks are on MSG which leaves the Islanders (from Atlanta) on the NY Alt channel LOL..
But this is brilliant-- more and more HD... now if the Kings were in HD every game.......... a girl can dream, eh?!

Next season there should be far more.... the new FSN broadcast center will be built and operational by that point, which will give them more capacity for simultaneous HD broadcasts.

i just didn't notice any -1 channels beyond 774. Obviously the 15 channels is so they can show both teams broadcasts.

Ahh... you probably have a channel filter on in the program guide - you'll need to go in and add those channels to the filter (the new channels are always off by default for some reason) then they will show up.
