27-years old, ONE 20-goal/60-point season in his 8 years, will probably barely hit that mark again this season, and he gets a six-year deal at over $4 Million per?
OUCH!

he's the best defensive forward they've ever had, this signing will benefit them in the long run

No wonder he's singing
BTW, am I the one who's perverse enough to giggle whenever I hear the name "Legwand"? Sounds like a euphemism to me.

Sorta similar stats path to Patrick Marleau though. At the least the Preds are allocating some money to keep their own guys. Hopefully they don't leave themselves open to getting poached for Suter/Weber this offseason.
Let's not forget that Legwand was Nashville's first draft pick ever. He didn't have a ton of talent to work with his first few years there--naturally he's not on the level of say Heatley, Kovalchuk, etc who could produce on expansion teams.
And in a world where the Michal Handzus', Scott Hartnells, Bobby Holiks can command multiyear deals for 4 million, I don't find this contract particularly that bad.

all things being equal with Legwand, Hartnell, Holik and Handzus, i'd easily take Michal.
i never objected to the Handzus signing... the only acquisition i had issue with and am continuing to have issue with is Ladislav Nagy.
well that, and i'm STILL not that quite certain how i feel about Brad Stuart yet.
I think Handzus was a great signing for the defensive scheme of this team, I'm just not so sure we had to pay him 4 million for 4 years because we do have Trevor Lewis and M.A. Cliche who could possibly take over that role in less than 2 years.
Nagy and Stuart seemed like a good idea at the time, but then again these guys have been bouncing around different teams for the last 2 seasons. If they were really worth the money, maybe they would have been offered contracts by their prior teams. I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't excited when we signed these UFA's, but at the time it seemed like the Kings were desperate to sign anybody who can fill the holes, and these two appear to have played their best hockey in other uniforms.

if you were to put Cliche on Lewis' shoulders, i don't think they'd be able to contain players like Thornton and Getzlaf (or even Bertuzzi), or take away some of Pronger's room at the point. let alone in less than two years. i imagine we might see Purcell on the PK next season (in a similar fashion to Brown and O'Sullivan) because of Teddy's size and hands.

they are both in the official s*** or get off the potty phase of their respective careers.

Yeah, I agree. Hopefully Zeus will still be able to shut those guys down at that point and have Lewis or Cliche on his wing.
