Veteran center Michael Nylander is scheduled to have surgery on his torn left rotator cuff tomorrow and will miss three to six months, I'm told.
If you remember, on Jan. 8, I wrote in The Post that a source had told me Nylander's shoulder was worse that the Caps were letting on -- the team said yesterday that he was taking the day off from practice -- and that surgery was a strong possibility. Well, now it's official.
Nylander, who has been playing in pain for more than a month and was unable to sleep because of the injury, was the Caps' second leading scorer with 11 goals and 26 assists. He also was a team-worst minus-19.
