Boudreau takes over.
Words can not express how great I feel for Bruce!!!
With this, another thing to be thankful for. I'm thankful that Hubie and Gilmore ran Boudreau out of Manchester and the Kings organization. Had it not been for their incredible foresight regarding Boudreau, this opportunity for him to coach in the NHL may have never come to be!!!

I figured this might happen soon. Caps have underachieved with the talent they have, particularly up front, although they've suffered some injuries. Still, with AO's contract situation, I'm not surprised they cut Hanlon loose.
That's great, so happy for Bruce! Gilmore really made a big mistake in Manchester and this is once again being proved out. Best of luck to Boudreau"s continued success in Washington.

Some posters around here just like to make up things to suit their personal opinions and then others use them as facts in the future.
Considering Leonsis promised the playoffs this year to the fan base, this has face-saving written all over it. It's a shame Boudreau is going to a disaster of an organization. Leonsis is the one who needs to go.

Boudreau was on the radio here this morning. Obviously he's thrilled at the opportunity. Unfortunate circumstances..
The Caps are staying in the Four Seasons in Philly. They play the Flyers today at 1:00 (eastern). He went down the the Four Seasons dining room for dinner last night. Opened the menu and there wasn't a dinner for under $100. He said he was about paying 100 bucks for a dinner so he went back to his room and ordered a $30 burger from room service...
About the Caps - "There's no friggin reason for this team to have the record we've got"
I ventured over to the CAPS board on HF to read their responses to the hiring and the reports from his first practice. Some folks already hate his line combos, defensive pairings and are calling for a real coach to be brought in immediately. Some are predicting a 2-week tenure...
I found myself wondering if I had somehow wandered into LGC in some parallel universe...
Hanlon was hired to be a players' coach and he was. But he's too nice a guy to coach a dyfunctional organization. I'm happy for Boudreau but we'll see if he can fare any better.

I knew Leonsis needed to go as soon as I found out he thought Jagr would help them.
It's pathetic. People think AEG/TL controlled DT...they were nothing compared to Leonsis.
