"The belief inside some NHL executive circles is that the position of President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs is Brian Burke's, if he wants it.
Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainments president and CEO, Richard Peddie when asked, declined to comment.
According to Burke, the Leafs haven't asked Anaheim for permission to discuss the job with him and he emphatically states there has been no contact. The mere suggestion of which hints towards tampering, which aside from a 7 figure fine for the teams involved and the forfeiture of draft picks, would also force Burke to the sidelines for a year.
No contact doesn't mean no interest; however there are personal factors Burke must contend with that may soon determine his and his family's future. "

I don't know....maybe he's more concerned with the team than with himself right about now?
you know that i don't hate either the Ducks or Brian Burke, but i find this very hard to believe.
that said, i'd be shocked if he left Anaheim to go to Toronto. if nothing else, his ego would prohibit him from the physical appearance he'd have due to the stroke he's be bound to suffer as a General Manager in that f***ing city.

I understand the average LGKers yearning for the demise of the Duck. However, when I see how they grasp at dreams like this one I can't help but to laugh at them. My favorite so far was the one where all the morons were speculating that Burke would mortgage the Ducks' future for Sundin and then bolt to Toronto afterwards. That one was just priceless.
The way Burke goes off on Kevin Lowe for stealing his player, I doubt he is going to leave. If he does leave he is a hypocrite.
It'd certainly be a slap in the face to the Samueli's.
Nothing like taking over the GM position, winning the Stanley Cup and then leaving saying something to the effect of, "...Toronto presents unique new challenges for me..." blah blah blah.
I hope it's just a rumor. I'd rather have Burke stay in Anaheim.

Brian Burke will not leave. He's BIG time on loyalty.
Why else would anyone sign Bertuzzi?

Don't forget Giguere to the Kings as a free agent signing and Blake to the Ducks for the Edmonton pick.

Sundin screwed up Burke's plans big time by not waiving his NTC and as a result, Burke is less likely to leave Anaheim now.
F'n Sundin screwed the TMLs & the Kings with one phrase.
