84 games a season?

Bettmann mentioned it earlier, rather than have 82 games and say 8 pre-season games, the league would consider reducing the exibition games by 2 and adding those 2 games onto the regular 82 game season to make it 84 games total.

The NHL players interviewed seem to be in favor of this idea (get the season started ASAP), any thoughts?

6 division x 3 conference x 2 other conference = 24 + 30 + 30 = 84 games.




I dunno how the unbalanced schedule vs. the other teams in the conference will work, but I like the idea of the home/home vs. the Eastern Conference.

They should eliminate one more exhibition game . . . the All-Star game.

Either that or give it some meaning.
The winning team's conference gets home ice in the finals . . . something.

...but then, by giving the game meaning, it increases the possibility of injury.

Just eliminate it.
