Has there ever been a time when you watch a Kings goalie & DONT think the puck is going into the net ever time the other team shoots.
I have a strong feeling that Bernier is going to challenge for the #1 position, more so than people think. I saw him play last year & he great in his games, although the shady defence didn't really help the GOA. Overall Bernier I think is going to surprise a lot of people and be on the starting roster, not in the AHL come Oct.
The Kings are going to suck. Why subject the misery to him and destroy his confidence? Let him play in Manchester and they can recall him during the season when LaBarbera gets hurt (lets face it, LaBarbera always gets hurt).

CBGB doesn't bother pouring salt in the wound, he goes straight for bone scraping.- lososaurus

What I see more in that video more than Bernier being good is our defense being bad. So out of position and letting people camp in front of our net.
That said, if he wins the job in camp he deserves to be there. It would damage the confidence in himself and in the organization to outperform the other goalies and not make it.
Confidence is not something that is effected so much by losing as it is by the way you lose. If the team is not doing a damn thing to help out. Not clearing the crease, not whacking people who come at your goalies not protecting the keeper then let Bernier play safely in the minors til we can do all of the aforementioned. If we have young guys who have respect for each other and have played together I think you will see a lot more effort.
There's no doubt that he'll compete, and most likely win the #1 spot. However, as CBGB pointed out, there's absolutely no reason to ruin his confidence and development. Let him play in Manchester. His time will come in December when we're a lock for a top 3 draft pick.

I see the rationale, and do agree with it, but what would it do to his head if he won the job, but it was given to someone whom he clearly beat out?
If he wins the No. 1 job, he should have the No. 1 job.

Then he'll play well enough to insure we won't get a top 3 pick.
