That's 2 games in a row, and Boyle sits on the bench.
The same Brian Boyle who was a monster last night, taking up position, causing havok in front of the net on two of our goals, not including the one he scored.
Tonight, again standing in front of the net, and he almost potted another one.
The only thing I can think of is that he's being showcased because he's on his way out of town, so I'm adding him to the list:
Blake
Modry
Stuart (Unless he signs an extension within a week)
Nagy (Hurt or not, he's getting traded)
Cammy (We don't need him, he's taking up a younger player's roster spot, and he'll bring a chunk)
Calder
Willsie
Thornton
8 Players? Yep, I can see it. The kids are coming up, and playing well, and they deserve some NHL time late in the season before the AHL playoffs start.
with Blake out, who else besides him and Brown dares to go in front of the net to screen?
Calder takes a constant beating and always does his job: whatever he can do for the team. I like him on the 2nd power play unit in front of the net.
Did you SEE Boyle Friday night? The big guy? The guy that was in FRONT of the net battling on BOTH Dallman and Armstrong's goals?
Calder goes to the front, and gets moved out. Boyle goes to the net, and they can't move him. Just like Holmstrom, Tkachuk, Leclair, Andreychuk, and Tim Kerr.
Oh, and he's got just as good a set of hands (Better than some) as anyone on that list, and a LOT better set than Calder's, especially since Calder had a PLATE inserted in his wrist earlier this season.
Calder's been on the #2 Power Play unit for a long time now, so it's nothing new. What is new is the Brian Boyle factor - I agree, Boyle should have been getting that time instead.
