Unless the Kings dismantle the roster I can still see us overtaking the Ducks. I've got a personal bet going that we'll still finish higher in the standings than them that I placed last week. While it may be a pipe dream, we are only 6 games back. I've enjoyed reading the many articles lately that think the Ducks won't even make the playoffs even after Niedermeyer and Selanne have returned.
This was a nice win tonight. Not one that I expected, especially after JLB let in the 1st shot on goal again.
Not that I think the Kings can make the playoffs but if you were to take a bigger sampling of recent Kings play (They started playing better at Christmas) a better picture of where the Kings will end up at the end of the year appears.

Absolutely agree. That Christmas break seemed to be the turning point. The team took about a month longer than I thought they would to gel but if they can finish the year near .500 I definitely consider this season a success.
Let's face it, we should have never let Tommy Lasorda into the locker room on the last home stand. He described how the Dodgers gained ten games in 12 days and overtook the Braves to win the pennant (I might have this wrong but this is basically what Tommy said). He went on to tell the Kings that "It can be done."
I remember thinking at that time "I hope they didn't listen to Tommy ..." Looks like they did ... really looking forward to a 1st round exit against the Wings if they get that far or out in never-never land which is draft picks 7 - 12.

Well, 80 ijn your case or 83 in my calculation, not a big difference... the big question is not whether it's enough for the playoffs, it clearly isn't, but for which lottery spot it's good enough.
Honestly, I would rather see the Kings play like this and not get the #1 draft pick. I am really enjoying this a lot. It's been a long time since I have really looked forward to the games. I still watch, I have just really been anticipating the games now.
When I heard the first goal went in around the 40 second mark, I thought FOR SURE that Dan "Beachball" Cloutier was in net! That would have sent LGK into an uproar....
