to package lubo and the dallas pick for a young physical d-man a la Komisarek + a pick, etc?
i've been thinking about this a lot lately. if we could get (a guy like) Komisarek for lubo, we would have a young established defensive d-man, and then we could make a push to sign brian campbell who plays an identical game to lubo. campbell would probably command a contract similar to what we will be paying lubo anyway.
then this would give us the option to either a) keep cammy, or b) package him along with some picks, preissing(wishful thinking) and prospects to acquire another d-man. (gleason *wink)
i know gleason and komisarek aren't available, but im just using them as examples.
if we could execute something like that our d-corps would be pretty solid and look like

Nothing against you Evan, but...
Why is Gleason always an option of getting a defensemen back? If this guy wasn't on the Kings, we would never be talking about him.

Trade Gleason, because he didn't fit into Lombardi's plans on defense. Now overpay to get him back????
Lubo and the Dallas pick for Komisarek. Unless he goes Patty Roy, that ain't enough.
Campbell. Good thought except that Burke has already given Neidermeyer an ultimatum to show at camp or retire. If he retires, look for that salary+(6.75) to go to Campbell.
So Lombardi if he has any thoughts of signing Campbell, may be forced into a position of overpaying. And the Kings won't be significantly better with him, only significantly lighter in the pocket.
The reality is Lombardi by all that I can see is going by the same playbook he used in San Jose.
Hopefully this time, it will produce a team that can advance past the 2nd round.
