About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I'm in SD...matters.
You realize the team would have to win every game from here out to make the playoffs... right?
.
Actually, that would put them like 25 games over .500. So technically you are probably off. But they would need to win an overwheming majority of their reamaining games.
It would be a great run... I would love to see it! How great would it be to watch the Kings win 3 out of 4 games for the rest of the year? Yeah I would love to have a top one or two draft pick but I would really love to see a run like that to make it into the playoffs.
If we are winning 3 out of 4 games for the next 37 games or so, we could do some damage in the playoffs. Might not happen but it would be great to see. Hell, I would like to see a damn playoff game at Staples.

Think MC is going to unveil a cardboard cutout of Uncle Phil with the promise to remove a bit of the cover for every win so that Uncle Phil will be in the buff when they clinch a playoff berth?
I see just mentioning anithing in the way of no, not, dont and Stamkos in the same sentance makes ppl not wanting to understand or they simply dont understand what Coolz wanted to say.
His yellow nose roommate was proly very happy and proud to be able to talk to Kings fan a year after stanley went to ducks and afcourse Kings beeing last was a cherry on the pie... And that proud mofo asked him if he thinks Kings should "Suck even more"... So i totaly understand why he said "HELL NO!!!"
Besides if u think of it even if we totaly tank the season... we dont get Stamkos... We get "better" chance of getting Stamkos (in best case 50/50)
So im not and im sure Coolz isnt against draftin Stamkos, we just share common idea of "Not tanking the season"
I can only talk for myself so leme explain why i think its not good to do it...
Our future is in all our joung kids hands not just in one birdy that is still on the roof and not jet firmly on our roster... What u wana teach those kids that u allready have? "U guys did good and the effort was great, but we have to sink the ship... And grab firmly to our lottery tickets." (If i was Brown illd use what I learned on the ice and use it on that mofo that would say those words and be brave enough to look in my eyes.
And if i have learned anithing in my life about irony is that the moment we sink the ship we ironacly win 2nd pick.

DL is going to draft the person who is the best player available according to the exhaustive research results accumulated by his hand-picked staff of scouts, coaches and management. Although it is entertaining to speculate, the preferences, prognostications, and protestations promulgated by pundits of pendantry and professors of prescience will have no influence over that decision. See Hickey, Thomas.
Finishing dead last gives the Kings the numerical odds of picking first that are slightly worse than betting on red or black, odd or even on a roulette wheel. Alternatively, completing the season with an even record the rest of the way would leave the Kings 10 - 12 games under .500 for the season and still well-positioned in the draft. A few well-placed wins could do wonders for the development of the younger players and dispel the loser mentality.
If DL picks up another #1 pick before the trade deadline the Kings will have incredible attractiveness and flexibility going into this draft. Who really knows what will actually happen this summer? Only DL has an idea, and if he is smart, he isn't talking.
In order to get to 90 points, the Kings would need another 52 points.
There are 35 games remaining.
That's 1.49 points per game.
That's about 6 points every 4 games.
Which means the team would need to just about win 3 out of every 4 games from here on out to get even a SNIFF of the playoffs.
It also probably means we'd have to be buyers at the trade deadline.
Now, why would you want to go and ruin a glorious re-build in to just to get a SNIFF of the playoffs ('cause 90 points is on the low end of what it might take to get there)?
DL is going to draft the person who is the best player available according to the exhaustive research results accumulated by his hand-picked staff of scouts, coaches and management.
But as he stated on Kings talk, if he finds two players to be in the same tier and one player fits the teams positional need i.e., defense, then he will take the player based on the position.
That's what he said in response to the question about Stamkos vs. Doughty.
Finishing dead last gives the Kings the numerical odds of picking first that are slightly worse than betting on red or black, odd or even on a roulette wheel.
As a side note, the chances of picking first are actually slightly BETTER than betting on red or black, odd or even, since a roulette wheel also has 0 and 00 spaces.
