Again, I think it's all part of Lombardi's conspiracy. Same reason Crawford switches players. One more year of mediocre play to get a good pick and really build this team up.
He just wasn't consistent enough. I think the main concern was that he could play big sometimes, but just when you think he could be "the guy", he would have a couple bad (or just not-so-good) games, and that's exactly what a #1 guy can't do. I think DL thought he was ok or good enough for the time, but just couldn't see him carrying this team down the line. He had good numbers, but that's because they're averaged over his good and bad games.
I'm glad he seems to have found a good home though. As long as he doesn't EVER knock the Kings out of the playoffs, I wont really mind that he left.
He was good, but not good enough. The story of his career really, and goalies like that don't make a difference with the Kings. Might as well just go with Labs.
When he got the chance to be #1, he either got injured or just couldn't get the job done.
Besides, JLB was still under contract (RFA technically). It's better they way it is now [clear starter (JLB) and clear back-up (Aubin)] than JLB and Garon alternating.

There are many different perspectives from what you may hear about "why didn't Garon get re-signed by the Kings" from other peoples point of view.
But from what I do know is the reasons why Garon not re-sign with Kings is because:
1) When Cloutier got traded to Kings, Garon thought he be the man between pipes.
2) Garon felt with the rebuild that DL has in place, that Garon himself wasn't apart of it.
3) Garon *suppose-of-ly* had a not so much of positive attitude in the dressing room. But couple weeks ago from what I hear with the insource I have with the Edmonton Oilers that, Torres, said to my friend that Garon is actually a good person in the room. (I do got insights with the team believe it or not)
So that is the breakdown I hear of about the whole thing.
