About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. DL never wanted to pick 1st overall.
He always wanted to draft a defenseman.
He would have had to stay with his "philosophy" of drafting the best available

He would have had to stay with his "philosophy" of drafting the best available talent -> Stamkos!
Think about the outrage here if he would have picked a D or traded away the 1st overall pick.
He knew T.B. would lose the rest of its games.
He wanted the Kings to win vs. S.J. and not vs. Ana. in their last game.
Winning the last game would have been to obvious!
Yes, there was a 18% chance of picking 1st overall, but thats fewer than nearly 49%.
I am not as disappointed about DLs move as about nobody on this board looking through the whole thing!
April 7th, 2008, a sad day for a proud organization!

If the second statement is true and you don't think DL would rather pick 1st and trade down for the d-man that he wants AND get another asset, you need to pull your head out.

I don't have enough experience with either place to say. However the amount of In N Outs around here and the absence of any TGIFridays or Applebee's reinforces my position that In N Out f***ing rules.

LOL, that is why DL sent Lucky to get the first pick.
Did you see Anreychuk's face beam when Tampa got the first pick? I am sure he headed straight off the set to snap one off after getting first pick.
Yeah, I'm sure DL cares about everyone's opinion. Every GM wants the #1 (or #30 of course) because you have the option to pick any person you desire in the draft. I'm sure he's thinking "If we get the #1 and don't pick Stamkos, imagine how many threads of outrage will be started on LGK!".
Please, could some of you genius people then please tell me the following:
Why start Ersberg (the hot goalie) vs. the Sharks and not Cloutier (the not so hot goalie) while trying to lose as much games as possible or at least the last two?
Tampa deserved the 1st overall pick, they did (or did not) do everything for it!
The Kings did not!
