Just over two months until PO becomes a Restricted Free Agent and eligible to have Mark Guy negotiating with other clubs. Will he be signed by the Kings before such or will he be tendered an offer and for how much?
Based on some comparatives, PO was "on fire" as the season grew longer both from a defensive forward perspective and that of a point per game offensive threat. I pulled the following following for reference using the last 25 games played and 2008-2009 salary:

My guess, if the Kings want a multi (say 5) year deal $22.5m (3.5,4.0,4.5,5.0,5.5) and that might be low!! Averaging $4.5m.??
I believe that an average of 4.5 is way too much for him, at least right now. I'm expecting something possibly short term with a salary between 2-3 million.
Sully made huge improvements this season. But I don't think he should get a big contract based on one good season. Looking back, would you have given Cammi a big contract after 06/07?

I would agree with the 2-3 million number. Not that he's been bad otherwise, but that's only a third of a season that he was playing on par with guys who were making 4.5 million. He's going to need to prove that he's a consistent player and improve his point total to be making around that much.
It would be in his best interest to get a 1-3 year contract at that price so, if all goes well for him, by the time that contract is up he'll have proved himself as a high scoring, defensively responsible and consistent player so that he can get a lucrative contract.
As far as the kings go, I would think they would be thinking something like Brown's contract.

I would give him about 2.5 for 3 years... IF they can lock him up for 6-7 years, I would go as high as 3-4M, Cause in 3 years he is gonna be expensive!

Sully should get about 2.75 - 3.00 for 3-4 years.
That sounds about right, though hopefully we can lock him up for 4 years.
He'd be foolish to go out 5 years at less than 3 million. DL knows that if he wants him at those types of numbers it won't be for five years. He "may take" +/- $3m on a two year deal but there is no way Newport would counsel him into UFA territory at a number less than $4.
