I think for O'Sullivan, as well as the rest of the Kings core players (Kopi, JJ, Cammy, etc.), a contract with incentives for making the playoffs is going to be important in the coming years. These players are reaching a point where personal achievement needs to translate into team improvement (DL said as much last summer). Certainly the first two years of a rebuild it would be stretch to make the playoffs, but not so in the coming year or two. If a player is going to say "show me the money", Kings management and fans alike should say in reply: "Show us the playoffs".

players cannot have incentive laden contracts unless they are either on an entry-level contract or are 35-years are older.



*edit* and by that i mean any bonus monies, because i'm not so sure what performance based incentives are actually available for entry-level players.
