first of all, phaneuf?
glad he got booted from the game.
second of all, i miss putting these together after wins.
third of all, i hope you all have a great new year's eve.
-I wonder if Downtown Brown will be wearing a mirror on his helmet tonight. Go get him Gio!
-Kings will have pretty well a full roster tonight including Mikka's good friend Ryan Smyth. They won't beat the Kings with a crappy effort like the last one against a depleted Kings lineup.
wtf?
-Doughty should keep his head up
-Regehr, Phaneuf, and Bouwmeester all destroy Doughty in attempts to be named to the team.
-Ersberg is definitely in tonight. Something to do with Quick playing tomorrow and issues going to the US from Canada so they can't leave tonight. Its going to be an early morning travel day and a wait in customs so no Quick in back to back games on this trip.
-Kipper plays out of his head tonight and that gives the team a chance to get going.
Gio scares the crap out of the LA captain, or the LA captain tries to hurt Gio and hurts himself.
Smyth spends all night in Kipper's crease and as a result the Kings are called for a large number of offsides. Flames win.
Go Flames Go.
-Williams - out
Stoll - out
The Kings aren't really more healhty than last time. Simmonds is back but he's still nursing the knee injury a bit.
The only difference this time is that you could officially say now that the Flames have been slumping.
I think this one could be anybody's game. Its probably going to be physical and when my two teams play each other I just hope nobody gets hurt.
-Then why is he playing?
-Because he can? He was cleared by the doc to play but he looks like there's still discomfort. He just had surgery on before Christmas. He's not a liability, by any means, but you can see a difference in his skating.
-If it's affecting his skating maybe he shouldn't play? I'm always a little wary of players jumping back in too soon after injury, and Simmonds is one of my favorite non-Flames; wouldn't want to see him re-aggravate something.
-I agree. I wonder if he came back too soon because Stoll and Jones weren't close. And now does he stay because Williams went down. He's become an important player for the Kings and the last thing I want to see is an injury made worse because of returning too soon.
-Five minutes for hitting too hard... that's the NEW NHL, bay-bee!
-Ivanis jumps... David Moss?
Terry Murray is getting fined for sure for that one.
-Refs punishing the result instead of the actual play.
-Kopitar has the wind knocked out of him so Phaneuf gets a game, it's absolutely ridiculous.
-How in the hell is Dions hit deserve a game misconduct? BS A penalty for being a little rough but a game? gimme a fn break. Ive seen hits like that 100 times and a hell of alot worse and nothing.
I am pissed.
-So Phaneuf got ejected becuse Kopitar got winded and his helmet fell off? Weak.
-Intent to injure.
-Are you serious about that? How do you identify an intent to injure?
-The helmet coming flying off and Kopitar lying still on the ice sold it. Not to mention the Kings players coming to this defense. The refs really didn't have much of a choice.
-Phaneufs gone for the game so the league won't need to enforce any further disciplinary action.
I was so relieved to see Kopitar get up tho. A dangerous looking play to say the least.
-Conroy!! Finally LOL
-CONNY!!!
YAY FOR HIS FIRST!!!!!
LMAO @ ersburg BTW
-Penalty shot?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!
-He missed...HAHAHAHHHA Nevermind. You can have the penalty shot.
-The reffing in this game is a freaking Joke. If that is apenalty shot then we should have at least 50 a year.
-The refs are making up the rules as the game go's on.
-Good game considering they were down a defenseman.
-For all I have been hearing about Doughty today, I really wasn't impressed.
-I'm glad that Moss got up after Ivanans elbowed him. He could've rolled around like a puss and drawn the major too, but he didn't.
Good to see that there's one team left in the NHL with a ballsack.
-Good thing the Flames fans in attendance didn't boo Ivanans after that elbow. Judging by some of the posts on the main board, there were already some hurt feelings tonight over Kopitar being booed. Classless, I tell you! Just classless!
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE KINGS GET ANGRY?
Quote:
"It's just a dirty play," said O'Donnell. "We talk about the players not having respect and why are there so many concussions. He didn't have to do that. He plays hard, he's not the brightest guy, he runs around a little bit.
It was a play that didn't have to happen. There's one thing to play hard. [Robyn] Regehr plays hard, [Jarome] Iginla plays hard, [Daymond] Langkow plays hard. He just plays stupid sometimes.
On Phaneuf's hit...
And Sutter... ---->>
Quote:
"That's one of the dirtiest hits in the game," said Murray afterwards. "That's been addressed at the league level and that's why the referee called a game misconduct."
Sutter saw it differently.
"It's a non-call. The icing was waved off, it's a foot race for the puck," Sutter said. "I always stand up for my players."
-Also, I liked how Kopitar was booed all night. Serves him right for faking. He was smiling when he got to the bench. He was non-effective anyway.
...and people keep saying how Phaneuf is overrated, but man, Doughty is more overrated. He is a great hockey player yes, but the hype that people give him is just too much.
-Just watching SportsNet (Pacific) and they are SOOOOOOOOO biased.... They trashed Phaneuf for the hit and didn't say anything about how bad the call was on the pen. shot.
