About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Granted they have played well enough to get rid of them all (JMFJ the exception), but we still need bodies out there for next year, right?. Stuart: wants to test
Granted they have played well enough to get rid of them all (JMFJ the exception), but we still need bodies out there for next year, right?. Stuart: wants to test the waters, Blake: traded?, re-upped for one year?, retire?, Priessing: "being actively shopped", Modry: Gone, baby, gone. It seems to me the only 2 legit D-men a lock to come back is Lubo and JMFJ. What happenes iif all the rest of these guys are gone? Even if we sign Blake again, that leaves 3-4 D spots open. You can't ASSUME on the D-man we are going to draft making an immediate impact let alone make the team even as hightly as Doughty and the rest are touted. You think our defense is bad this year, just envision this:
JMFJ - Blake
Lubo - Harrold
Dallman - Draft pick
Piskula/Petiot/Bagnall,,, take your pick for #7
Only 3 legit NHL'ers out of 7 spots, that scares me. I hope Deano has something big cooking because as much as I like our prospects (especially Piskula and Bagnall who are tough defensive minded d-men, which is what we need.) I am not confident in their NHL ability yet.
There are a ton of defenseman due to become RFA's this July 1st.
Also, Hickey could be ready...but I'm sure they're not counting on him.
Half a defense with Lubo, Hickey, and Harrold would be the smallest in pro hockey...and add Preissing and that would be the combined smallest / softest defense corps in the history of the NHL. I don't see this happening.
