Pietrangelo is a great skater and can run the power play, but isn't the most physical. He usually is in position to make the play, but doesn't always succeed. He can get overrun by players, which makes people think he isn't the fiercest competitor. A lot of people seem to think he's got the highest ceiling out of all of this year's d-men.
Bogosian is a physical d-man and a fierce competitor. He steps up to the challenge and loves taking on opponents' top players. Bogosian has great offensive skill and can skate well. He projects to be a great all-around player.
Schenn is a physical beast. He has some offensive skill, but not nearly as much as the other top d-men. Schenn might be the best shutdown d-man in the draft, and projects to be a solid stay-at-home defenseman.
Doughty is probably the best offensive defenseman. He's got great end-to-end ability, and is also strong in the defensive zone, although his game is not as physical as Bogo or Schenn. Doughty's skating ability is amazing.
No matter who we pick, we're going to get a fine d-man in a couple months.
I really don't see Dean picking up another small Dman. My guess is that he's really looking into Pietrangelo and Bogosian. With Pietrangelo's health issues and questions about his physical game... you would assume that Bogosian is the clear cut choice at this point. Bogo's game is quite similar to Jack Johnson's. A future of Johnson/Visnovsky and Bogosian/Hickey sounds like a good deal to me. We are, however, talking about Dean Lombardi... so I wouldn't be surprised if he goes off the board and picks someone ranked 39th.
Why did I think Filatov was 5'9"? He is listed at 6?
He is a very interesting pick. I really thought he was one of the best overall at the Worlds. And, he has said that he wants to play in the NHL.
I am not saying to pick him, but he certainly needs to be considered.
As far as Bog vs. Daughty...I am just happy I get to sit back and watch. This is a real toss up. It really seems like Bog has more upside, but I could be wrong.

It'll only be considered if someone REALLY wants him and Dean works out a trade for a top Dman that is ready to get into the lineup. Even that's a stretch. With his size issues and the Russian transfer headaches... I actually see him dropping down to 5-7th. Just look at what happened with Cherepanov in the last draft. That's just my opinion though... I could be wrong.
