About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. i'd be ok if we signed redden, but like everyone else said, it would have to at the right price and not for too long (1-2 yrs imo).

First off, the Toronto Sun is a rag. They seem to release/make up rumors that have players going to places where the local media couldn't give a **** whether or not they made them up.
The journalists cite the agents who are playing this game in order to cook up interest and let teams know that they are in the running. Really, this is more about Redden's agent, after a terrible year, letting the Kings know that he is willing to play for them as they are one of several teams with top tier defensemen money heading to free agency.
The Kings won't bite. Redden's agent envisions his client taking over the #1(paid) d job in LA. That's bull****. There's no way Lombardi slots Redden in over Visnovsky's 5.6. But! that's a slot Redden's team would love to have and that's where the negotiating is going to begin.
I'd rather overpay for a guy like Commodore or Jason Smith, and still have enough money left to sign Stuart or Blake than pay $6 million for Redden.
He's a good player on the right team, but that team is not the Kings. Maybe the Rangers. Couple teams I think will make a good run at him though would be Buffalo and Atlanta.
Lubomir Visnovsky
Rob Blake
Tom Preissing
Kevin Dallman
Jack Johnson
Jon Klemm
A)Blake should not be getting 1st/2nd pairing ice time.
B)Dallman is a warrior but undersized physically. A fine AHL player and emergency call up but when he makes the team you know youre in trouble.
C)Klemm is 39. Granted he looked pretty good but two 38+ players on the same D corp is brutal.
You can bet that 1 Dman from Manchester will have every chance in the world to make the team...probably Bagnall. But that still leaves 1 spot open.
Is leaving out Harrold a mistake...or do you really belive he's not worth a mention?

ORPIK would be my ideal choice. While were at it...I'll take Ryan Malone too!
