all i want to know is why we didn't even attempt to resign this guy? (or if we did, why we were unsuccessful)
-he just scored in a playoff game & he scored numerous clutch goals during the reg. season
-he fights/sticks up for teammates
-plays defense
-doesnt ask for a lot of money
-he's better than 1/3 - 1/2 of the Kings we kept (cough*armstrong*cough) ..and..
-he OWNED steve ott
can someone please help me try to understand why we had no problem letting this guy walk?
was his contract up, or did we trade him for Ivanans?
Trade him for Ivanans? no. They were BOTH on this team last year.
He was a restricted free agent after last year.
He chose to sign with Montreal.
Who knows what we offered him, but honestly, as much as I love TK, IF our free agent signings had worked out like we had hoped, we really had no room for him. You may think he's better than Army (he is not btw), but he doesnt play the same role Army plays.

I agree. When I see our 4th liners line Guiliano or Zieler play I just shake my head because they both have ZERO and I mean ZERO offensive skill. When was the last time they had at least some kind of scoring chance?!? Can they hit and hustle? Yes. But for Kamil Krepes Sake! they CANNOT muster any kind of scoring opportunity. Tommy K was a complete hard nosed checking forward. I mean, if the Kings dont want you and the Canadiens do, what does that say?

I would have loved to have retained TK. I guess Dean viewed Calder as a replacement/upgrade, and it was a reasonable risk to take with Calder being a former 25 goal guy, but yeah.
I mentioned TKO a while back. And I agree, I didn't understand why the Kings didn't re-sign him.
Teams need 3rd line grinders and role players. Teams that go deep in the playoffs have that 3rd line. I felt when Kostopoulos was here, he was part of that 3rd line we always wanted. He had played w/ Brownie and Cammy in Manchester the year of the lockout. Put up some good numbers in the AHL, and had the abilities to pot in some extra points for this team. I'm pretty sure he was a good guy to have in the locker room. He not only played hard and threw checks, but he was willing to drop the gloves. And I agree, I'd rather have him than Zeiler for four years...and I don't care how cheap Zeiler is; Kostopoulos is worth the 900k he makes in Montreal.
Anyone remember when he said he'd give a hundred bucks (i think) to whoever had the hardest hit in a game? That shows a guy who was team first and was having fun doing it. How could that not be good for the guys to be around?
Another gritty, former King to add to the list.
Seeing his reaction when he scored for Montreal tonight was great. I wish him luck.

I'd rather have TK than several of the Kings scrubs, Calder included, given the salary difference. Look no further than Travis Moen to see the potential value of grinding role players. It's not like having TK would have changed much this year, and DL's made bigger blunders, but it still sucks nonetheless.

wow, im not sure which is harder to imagine:
calder having 25 goals at one point in his career, or handzus having 8 pts in his first 8 games for the hawks last season.
Perhaps this statement might include Zeiler attempting to throw every bit of him at the opponents but sorry Guilano couldn't hit the broad side of barn.
