About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Inside the Kings Thank your Don and Rich
From the quotes, it sounds like Stamkos has some of the character/personality traits that DL likes. If the Kings have the opportunity to select him, it'll definitely be interesting to see what Lombardi does.
Even with don's comment of feeling like you're talking to a 35 year old, wouldn't dean still throw him down in Manchester to 'build character' for a year?

It all depends on how he responds and performs in camp. Kopitar didn't need it, and I have a feeling Stamkos won't either.

Stamkos isn't eligible to play in Manchester/AHL for another 2 years. So he either stays in Sarnia next season or he plays on a NHL roster.

Well NHL it is then. my comment was based off dean saying at breakfast that you have these guys who since they've been 14 have been told how good they are and no one ever criticizes them. I figured that was essentially targeted at stamkos aka "the next one" who's been likely number 1 draftee forever now. But I couldn't see him keep a guy like this back in the jrs either
It should be noted that Pieterangelo leads all OHL defensemen in playoff points and is tied for the league lead in scoring overall. 3g-3a, 6pts in 3 games. Yes he is ahead of Stamkos (5g-0a, 5pts in 3 games)
Doughty has 2 goals and no assists in 2 games. I continue to believe he is tired after playing a lot of hockey the last 12 months.

He will build character centering the Second Line.
Question: Have you talked with any of the Kings’ scouts this season?
Stamkos: After the first playoff game in Windsor I actually had the opportunity to speak with Mr. (Michael) Futa (Director of Amateur scouting) and I believe Mr. Lombardi was there with him – I think he was there with him, I can’t be 100% sure. I talked to both of them after the game and they just kind of asked how I thought I played and just told me to keep my play up. We’ll see come draft day and the lottery how things play out.
But I thought Lombardi was going to pick a defenseman?
