Talent to be a 2nd liner? Depth in front of him? Oh, Im sorry, I didn't realize our 2nd line center, Derek Armstrong was taking away all of Boyle's play time. I mean, how difficult should it be for a 23-24 year old 1st round pick to to crack the roster when he has such illustrious names like Derek Armstrong and Michal Handzus in front of him. When I think of 2nd line guys who have their spots locked down, Derek Armstrong is the first name that comes to mind.
If Boyle can't make this team, right now, I wouldn't put much stock in him doing anything of value at the NHL level.

I dont know about that 4 years in College and this his first year pro. King always said they were going to take there time with him. I certainly think he should get a kick at the can the end of the season.
This is all great, but the correct assestment about Boyle right now is....
Too soon to tell. This is Boyle's first year of pro hockey and while he appears to be doing well, management does not want to rush him. This is due to the fact that there is some debate on what position he should be playing to utilize him as much as possible. Could he be on the NHL club right now? Yes, but the organization does not want to rush him and is letting him play in the minors to let him develop.
