Bottom line... CBGB was right, and most of us were wrong. This kid may eventually show up, but Perry was the pick to make at that time.
I would like to see him become part of a nice trade for something that can produce in the next year, I can't see waiting another 2 years for him to get here full time (assuming he is here at all next year).

Why 2 years? Hes putting up a point a game right now in spite of playing 1/2 the season as a Dman. 6'7" centers dont grow on trees and if he is 1/2 way decent at faceoffs he can be the best 4th line center in the league and with experience a servicable 3rd line center.
The Kings have waited and groomed him to the point where he's very close to being an NHL regular so why trade him now and why do you think he's 2 years away? Power forwards take a bit longer to develop. If Dave Steckel has a place in the NHL Boyle certainly does.
Everyone said the same thing about Dustin Brown last season about never developing yada yada yada.

01-02 Eric Healy - 24g 34a - games in the NHL - 2
01-02 Derek Bekar - 27g 20a - games in the NHL - 11
02-03 Pavel Rosa - 28g 35a - gams in the NNH - 36
03-04 Noah Clarke - 25g 26a - gams in the NHL - 21
04-05 Brad Smyth 23g 33a - games in the NHL - 88
05-06 Jeff Tambellini - 25g 31a - games in the NHL - 56
Boyle is a slow, lumbering, center who can't skate. Neither could Steckle.
I think Boyle will either be the next Joel Otto or the next Chris Wells(Florida/Pittsburgh). He'll have to toughen up considerably to be along the lines of Joel Otto and I don't mean fighting wise. How is he gonna react when a guy like Hollweg or Tootoo runs him which you know at his size they will. I'd like to see him get a few games in this season just to judge his progress and see if he can hang at this level.

These players are all undersized or veteran AHLers. The one exception is Tambellini who I couldnt give two farts about because hes no longer on the Kings. Smyth actually played on the Kings big squad for parts of 2 seasons in the Late 90s-Hes not exactly a 22 year old former college all star in his first year of pros.
And Look-Im not making any comparison to Corey Perry. The Kings obviously twice missed picking up an NHL all star. What I am saying is because the Ducks hit a home run w/Perry doesn't necessarily mean they struck out with Boyle. Not saying Boyle is going to be an All-Star but with his size and scoring touch around the net the Kings still may have someone who can contribute.

Contribute what, Hip? 4th line? You guys want a 1st round draft pick and spend all of that $$$$ developing him to be a 4th line 6 minute a game mucker with the likes of Ivanans and Giuliano?
GREEEEEEEAT.
If he were a bruiser, if her were tearing up the AHL by using his Zdeno Chara like size to get under the skin of the opposition I'd say okay, but from all of Dano's reports, he's not that at all. He's Steve McKenna without fighting and without fighting Steve McKenna was absolutely worthless. Which is how I grade Boyle.

Meanwhile...
Wave the White Flag then.....Im not stopping you. Im just saying Id rather have a big guy who can contribute then a small guy who cant. Even if its as a 4th liner WTF cares as long he can contribute in some shape or form. Im also saying that If the Duck picked Hyman Silverman with the 30th pick you would have nowhere near the animosity towards Boyle that you do. You sound like a spurned lover who is going to automatically hate the exs new love interest regardless who is or who they are. Its the same logic for some that when someones favorite player gets traded they automatically hate the player he got traded for. Im sure there is some psychological name for it.
And, Bobby Ryan (the 2005 2nd overall) is in the minors , while Jack Johnson (3rd) and Anze Kopitar (11th) are NHLers.
And, oh yeah, Kopitar is an All-Star.
